Time for the promised update 🙂
Here is a list of changes since the first alpha was released:
- It should now be possible to connect to a server without a username/password
- Online checker was extended to 15 days
- Changed the .NET framework from Client to Full framework (sorry, had to!)
- Fixed the installer to install the full version of the framework if missing
- You can now enable/disable a server. When it’s disabled it will not be used during server traversal. However, you cannot disable the primary server
- Fixed a severe bug using multiple servers, and the server traversal tool which could lead to an infinite checking loop
- Fixed the breakdown form (again!). The bars should now show the correct result for each completion bar. Also, the correct number of bytes is also displayed when using multiple servers.
- Fixed other minor bugs!
I would like to send a big thank you, to those people who took the time, to report bugs and suggestions! Please, keep the suggestions coming 🙂
I’ll would also like to thank the few persons who took the time and money, and gave a small donation – THANK YOU!
When you start the new alpha release (yes – the download link has been updated!), you will be greeted by a sponsor screen. This screen will only be shown once on every new update of the program. It gives you the opportunity to sign up to a news group vendor – who will in turn support NZBcc. The screen can also be found on the About screen.
Have fun with it 🙂
Thanx a lot.
Gonna test it=)
Just installed Windows XP mode, and spotted the error! Windows XP does not support the required cryptographic hash function. This is used to upload the results to the server, after the NZB has been checked for completeness. I’ll look around for another alternative!
WOuld it be possible to bypass this error if we could just disable sending results to the server?
BTW i dont realy get why it sends results automatically to the server.
There are loads of NNTP providers so how does one know where this particular nzb is complete?
Unless im missing something =)
Alex
I NEED people to upload their result during the beta, that’s why you cant disable the upload! When I change the status to beta, you can disable it!
“There are loads of NNTP providers so how does one know where this particular nzb is complete?

Well… you are missing something 🙂 Let me explain (short version!):
Lets say you have an NZB file, that is incomplete. You can then try the online check (does not work in XP right now!). It will then check the hash of that file, against all the hashes in the database. If it finds a match, it will show you on which servers the file was recently tested against – and how complete it is, and when it was last checked! This allows you to switch to that server, and download the complete file (or missing segments!). That’s why it always uploads the results of an NZB completion check – so others can see, how complete the NZB file is on YOUR usenet server!
Hope that explains it 🙂
Just uploaded a new version for you! I tested it on Windows XP, and it works for me! Please test it when you have the time 🙂
